Religion,
Languages, and the Ancient
World are the content areas in which RelTech specializes.
Members of our team have advanced degrees in religious studies, theology,
languages, and ancient history, and we regularly participate in important
professional conferences, both locally and abroad. If your project requires
expertise in any of these areas, or related fields, we are ready to work
with you to bring your project to fruition.
Religion
RelTech is a nonsectarian organization, and we are interested in the scholarly
study of religion and theology. We have worked on projects that have dealt
with Judaism, Christianity,
Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, and other religious traditions, both ancient
and modern. Just as it has been for millennia, religion remains an important
part of today's world. Unfortunately, particular religions are often misunderstood,
maligned, and manipulated by people of other faiths, and even by adherents
of those religions themselves. It is our desire to work on projects that
teach the public about religion and that promote interfaith dialogue.
Languages
English may be the most common language on the Web, but many important
documents, both in modern times and especially in antiquity, were written
in other languages. We have worked with text corpora that contain many
languages from many different time periods. Included among the ancient
languages in which we are competent are Hebrew,
Greek,
Aramaic,
Syriac,
Latin,
and Coptic.
We have also dealt with many modern languages, including German, French,
Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, and Afrikaans.
Ancient World
Archaeology, history, comparative religions, and sociology are tools scholars
use to study the ancient world. We are familiar with these tools, and we
have studied many different regions of the ancient world, including the
Fertile
Crescent, Egypt
and North Africa, the Roman Empire, Central and South Asia, Australia,
sub-Saharan Africa, and Mesoamerica. Our familiarity with world history
and ancient cultures and literature enables us to understand better the
needs of your particular digitization project.
